#9: Food heaven!

One day, a few friends and I decided to head to Malacca for a day trip just for fun and for the food. We reached Malacca around 9 and the streets were still quite empty. We headed to a chicken rice ball place right beside Jonker Street. Well, to be honest, I have never heard of chicken rice ball. Basically, it's just chicken rice, but instead of rice served normally, the rice comes in the form of a ball. It was awesome! It was a just a small shop, but it was FULL of people going for breakfast. Fortunately, we were right on time. When we sat down, there were people waiting and lining up for seats!

After breakfast, we started on our walk in Jonker Street. There were lots of restaurants, boutiques, and bakeries. They are famous for their pineapple tarts and other buns. We bought so many boxes of pineapple tarts! It was THE BEST I have eaten. It's so soft and the dough was just perfectly baked. The shop we went to, was an old couple baking and selling all kinds of tarts and biscuits. We got our tarts fresh out from the oven! There was another shop that sold 5 boxes for the price of RM60. We bought that too! No harm trying everything right? :p

After a long walk around there, we decided to get some refreshment as it was such a hot day. We decided to get 'durian cendol' at one of the shops there. Durians are so heaty, but it was so mouth watering, we couldn't resist not giving it a try. There was even durian puffs, but we forgot to get them before we left. There was a shop that sold ice-creams in the shape of an egg all with different flavours of fruits. It looked good, but there were too many people around, so we didn't manage to get that either. But although we didn't get to buy so many things, we were so full because we kept stopping at shops to grab things to eat!

The streets of Jonker Street are narrow, just enough for 2 cars to squeeze through. There are lots of 'beca's going around, with loud music playing and giving people a tour around that place. In that area itself, there are two huge churches, and they are just beautiful. I didn't get to go in, but from the outside, the church looked so nice!

Right in front of the church, there were two men who was dressed up in suits and a top hat all covered in purple and gold glitter. They were standing static just like statues. If you wanted to take a picture with them, you had to donate a minimum of RM2. But it was really cool the fact that they stood still there for so long with everyone just looking at them. Next to them, there were a few people with snakes and a huge lizard and allowed you to take instant photos with the them. The snakes were calm and my friend actually went to touch it. But we were to afraid to snap photos with them, so we just left.

Despite the really hot weather, we had an awfully great time there! Also, after walking around Malacca, we decided we wanted to go watch the sunset at the beach. So we decided to head to Port Dickson after that. I will elaborate more on Port Dickson in the second post. (:
